Attract existing and new customers to your webshop with this trigger!

Shopping together is much more fun than alone, right? We think so too! To attract existing customers and new customers to your webshop, you can let your existing customers invite a friend. You can easily automate this 'refer a friend' email by using the trigger below. πŸ›

Go to the trigger page and click on the Reloadify - Refer a friend template.


Start with a clear name for your new trigger. This name is not visible to your customers, but purely so you can easily tell your different triggers apart:

Next, segment your audience:

The last order of which:

The order moment is equal to 45 days ago

The orderstatus is equal to completed

At the bottom of the page you will see the number of profiles that meet your set trigger conditions. It is possible that no profiles are matching at the time of setting up; this may look completely different in a few minutes.

Email Settings

In this step you are going to complete the information about you as a sender. If all goes well, both your name and email address are already filled in for you. If not, please check your email settings in the settings menu; these will be synchronized with each other. You can choose your company name or a combination of your own name and your company name. We would like to advise you not to choose only your own name. Customers might not recognize your name and see the email as spam:

Next, you continue with email subject:

Hi {{first_name}}, invite a friend and get a discount!

And possibly a preheader text:

Shopping together is more fun than alone, right! πŸŽ‰

We would like to advise you to add the customer's first name to your email subject. This will increase the chances of the customer opening the email. You can also add a preheader.

Want to resend unopened emails? Then enable this.

Next, choose the start and end time in which you want to send the automatic trigger. You can choose to have the sending continue 24/7, but we would recommend selecting a more specific time frame, so your email is less likely to get snowed under. For example, like between 7 a.m. and 8 P.M.

Email editor

Once in the e-mail editor, you will see a template that you can personalize. Using the menu on the right, you can add various components, including text boxes, images, videos, buttons, dynamic products, etc. You can also remove items from the template by clicking on the trash can icon in the top right corner.

A text message is of course indispensable in your email:

Hi {{first_name}} Invite your friend, girlfriend, father, mother, brother, sister, cousin or niece and both shop with discount! Share the discount code below and add it to your order. Order today before 9pm and you'll have your order in the mail tomorrow!

Shopping together is of course more fun if you can both do it at a discount. Therefore, offer a discount code that can be used twice. Before you can add a discount code to your email, you first need to create it yourself in our app. You can do this on the page 'discount codes' under 'dynamic content'. Don't forget to save your trigger created so far (top right corner) πŸ™‚

πŸ’‘ Tip: If you want two people to be able to use the discount code, enter two at 'number of uses'. You can also choose to name this in your email as a condition, along with the point that the discount code cannot be used in conjunction with other discount codes, gift certificates or similar.

Do you already have a number of different triggers live? And are you putting enough variety into the formatting of your emails? In this template, we didn't add a dynamic product for a change. Instead, we chose a button that leads you to the webshop. Which page you link to this, we leave up to you.

After writing your text, creating and adding a discount code and creating your webshop button, you can continue with the further design and styling of your trigger. We have listed a few (important) aspects for you. A number of these points will be repeated in all trigger templates and in the related articles.

Note: the styling and further layout may look different for each webshop, you may get inspiration from the points below.

Header: let the logo of your webstore appear in the header and adjust the background color if necessary.

Heading text: Get ready to shop!

This is where you then add your text box with your written text.

Button: Shop your favorites now

Row: Turn your 'benefits' into an image or a list in a text box:

  • Ordered before 9 p.m., delivered tomorrow

  • Free shipping for orders above € 25,-

  • 30 days right of return

Row: if you have an app for your online store, you can add a link to the App Store or Play Store.

❗ Note: we already added the unsubscribe link for you in the template. If you have chosen to create a new trigger, you have to add the link yourself. You do this by selecting the relevant text and clicking on 'special links' > 'subscriptions' > 'unsubscribe link' in the toolbar of the text box.

Close your e-mail with a row in the same color as your header, but without your logo. This will create an organized e-mail.

Points of attention

We advise you to use a white, or at least a light, background color. This ensures that the email is easier to read.

Important to know is that the images you load are scaled by default. The images are therefore adapted to the dimensions of the images from your shop. If you don't want this, you can click on the image and turn off the option 'automatic width':

Then you can manually determine the size of the images. But, don't make your logo and other images too big, because of the mobile version of your email. It may vary by phone, but images that are too large may be compressed.

Save your created rows, this will save you the next time you set up a new trigger. You can find the saved rows under 'saved rows' in the top right corner.

Curious how your email will look to a client? Send yourself a test e-mail! The system will complete the email with customer data from a random profile in your webshop.

Activate trigger

Before activating the trigger, please note: did you use the Reloadify trigger template? Then make sure you have replaced our name with your own company name. Did you already do this? Then you're good to go! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

In this last step you will get to see a summary of your settings and you can choose to activate the trigger immediately or to activate it later.

Once you activate the trigger, our system is continuously searching for profiles that match your set conditions.
