Of course you get excited about every single person discovering your online shop, but even more so, when they actually buy something or subscribe to your newsletter. To establish a great relationship with your customers, it is important to welcome them. This is more or less expected of you. Let’s get started drafting a welcome email. 🚀

Go to the trigger area and click on the template Welcome.

Audience

To name your Trigger, use a straightforward name. This will make it easier to find it later on. The name is only visible to you and not your customers.

Reloadify - Welcome

Filter your audience:

The first order that
the time of order is exactly 0 days ago
the order status is "completed"

You are now filtering all profiles, which placed an order in your online shop, exactly 0 days ago (today) and who's order is "completed".

Watch out: choose the first order, because you want to welcome your new customers after they have made their first purchase with you.

Below your filter settings you can now see how many profiles match with your triggers.

It can happen that at that moment you do not have any matching profiles with your currently set triggers. Do not panic, this can be the exact opposite in a few minutes.

E-mail Settings

In this second step you are filling in the e-mail settings. Check your email settings in the settings menu; it will automatically synchronize the information you have entered. We recommend you use the name and email address of your online shop and use this for all your email communication.

You can choose to use your company name or your personal name combined with your company name. We recommend to not only use your personal name. This might prevent customers from recognising the email, and it could be moved into the spam folder.

Fill in the email's subject:

Welcome {{first_name}}, nice to have you here!

By adding the first name of your customer into the email's subject line you can increase the chances of the customer opening it. You could also decide to display a pre-header:

Discover everything we have to offer you!

A pre-header is a short, introductory text, which can improve conversion. It is, after the subject, the first sentence that a customer reads, after the email appears in the inbox, or it has been opened. With a pre-header you can give your customers a little nudge to open the email.

Want to resend unopened emails? Then enable this.

Next, choose the start and end time in which you want to send the automatic trigger. You can choose to have the sending continue 24/7, but we would recommend selecting a more specific time frame, so your email is less likely to get snowed under. For example, like between 7 a.m. and 8 P.M.

Email Design

In this third step you will begin designing and styling your triggers. You can see a default template, which you can modify to your own taste. With the menu on the right, you can add different elements into your email, for example text boxes, images, videos etc. Of course, you can also delete sections.

Let us start with the text structure:

Hi {{first_name}}
You registered for our newsletter, how amazing is that! From now on we will keep you up to date on the latest news from Reloadify. Of course, we want our information to be of interest to you. So tell us, who are you, and what are you interested in?

Best regards,

Your Reloadify Team

In a welcome email it is not necessarily important to add for example dynamic products. On the other hand, it can be interesting to welcome and reward your new customers with a little discount code. A discount code is simply added with "Merge tags". Click into the text box, in which you want to display the discount code, and the option "Merge tags" will appear in the black toolbar. At the bottom of this list, you will find your previously created discount codes. In this example we omitted it, but of course you can easily set up all the terms and conditions for using the discount codes, by yourself.

Haven't created a discount code yet? Don't panic, it is easily done! In this article, we will explain how to create those dynamic discount codes. Watch out: do not forget to save the trigger you are creating (at the top right), before you head into another area of Reloadify.

After composing your text and possibly setting up (and adding) a discount code, we will continue with the formatting and styling of your trigger. We have put together a few important aspects for you. Some of these are repeated in other trigger templates, consequently we will be examining them there as well.

Be aware: The styling and adjustments can look different with every online shop platform, but maybe we can inspire you with the following ideas.

Header: Show the logo of your online shop in the header and adjust the background colour if required.

Introduction: Welcome!

Add a text field and fill in the text you created. Complete this with a button, which will allow your customers to enter their details and wishes.

Button: I am …

Subtitle: Get your discount code!

As a thank you, we would like to extend this offer to you. Receive a 5% discount on your next order, using the following code.

{{coupons.discount_welcome}}

The discount code is valid for the next 15 days and cannot be used in conjunction with other discount codes or gift cards.

Row: Create an image or a summary in a text box with your benefits:

  • order before 9 pm and you will get your order delivered the next day!

  • free shipping on orders over €25,-

  • 30-day return policy

Row: If you have an app-version of your online shop, you could add the link for the AppStore or Play Store here.

Subtitle: Do you need some help?

Footer: You're receiving this email, because you are a customer of Reloadify, or because you registered for our newsletter. You don't want to receive any more emails from us? You can unsubscribe from our newsletter here.

Note: we already added the unsubscribe link for you in the template. If you have chosen to create a new trigger, you have to add the link yourself.

Complete your email with a row, that has the same color as your header. We recommend to not use your logo again in the footer, thereby creating a concise email.

Tips

  • In regard to the use of colour, we recommend using a white background (or another light colour) for your emails. This ensures better readability.

  • Pictures are adjusted and scaled by default, based on your online shop. If you want to scale them manually, click on the picture and on the right deselect the option "scale picture automatically". This will now allow you to scale the pictures manually.

  • Be aware, that pictures and logos are often compressed in mobile versions, if they are too big. This can differ for every smartphone.

  • Save your created rows, as this will help you when you want to create a similar trigger. You can find your saved rows under "Saved Rows".

  • Are you keen to see how your email will look like in the inbox of your customers? Just send a test email to yourself. Our system will populate the email with random data from one of your customers.

Activating the trigger

Before activating the trigger, be aware: Did you use the Reloadify Trigger Template? Check that you have swapped all our names in the email with your company's name. You did? Then you are good to go!

In the final step, we will display a summary for you, and you can decide to activate your trigger immediately.

Once you activate it, our system will continuously search for matching profiles. You can also activate the trigger at a later stage.
