Do you want to create an extra sense of urgency in your newsletter, trigger, landing page or pop-up? Then make easy use of the countdown timer. In this example, I put a countdown in a campaign.

  • Step 1: Add the countdown timer to your mail

  • Step 2: Configure your countdown timer

Step 1. Add the countdown timer to your mail

Create a newsletter as you always do. From "Content" (on the right side), drag and drop the "Countdown timers" option into the mail.

Drag the countdown into your newsletter, which looks like this:

Step 2. Configure your countdown timer

To configure the countdown timer, click on "create an animated countdown timer" in the timer block. A new screen will now appear where you can set your own countdown timer:

Choose timer type

You can choose from 3 different types of timers:

  • End on date: use this option if you want to put a countdown in your email with a specific end date. You fill in the timezone here (by default it is set to UTC+2) and an end date/end time. For example, sale through June 10. You then set the end time to June 10. From the time of creation, the timer will start running.

  • Start on open: You use this option if you want to put a countdown in your email that starts running when the email is opened. With this option, you use the number of days/hours/minutes and seconds. For example, your customer has 24 hours after opening the mail to proceed to purchase.

  • Start on send: You use this option if you want to put a countdown in your email that starts running as soon as you send the email. With this option, you use the number of days/hours/minutes and seconds. For example, your sale starts at 8:00 pm, and you send your email at 6:00 pm. I then put 2 hours with this option.

Timer style

You can choose how you want the timer to look. Is that:

Default:

Arcs:

Or blocks:

Size

With this option, you set the size of your countdown. Be aware that the countdown will automatically scale in the mobile version.

Language

With this option you set the language for the display of the 'days', 'hours', 'minutes' and 'seconds'.

Digit font

With this option, you set the font for the numbers themselves.

Label font

With this option, you set the font for the letters below the digits.

Background image

With this option, you set a background image for your timer.

Expiration image

With this option, you can set a specific image when the timer has expired. Nothing is set in this option? Then the counter will remain at 00:00:00.

Colors

Here you set your own colors for the numbers, letters and background.

Do you want to save your countdown timer? You can! Select the row with your countdown timer and press the diskette-icon. Then give your timer a name and save it. You will find it back under your 'rows'.

FAQ countdown timers

1. How far in advance can a timer be created?

Our generator creates real-time, animated GIF countdown timers. Timers can be created for any date/time within the next 99 days.

2. Do your timers work on iOS 15?

In most cases, yes! In the event that loading timers may not be compatible with a specific mail app, the timer will “fall back” so to speak and be hidden. Don't see a timer in your email? Then your email client does not support it.

3. What is the support of email clients to countdown timers?

Our countdown timers are animated GIF images, which are supported by almost every email client. The exception is Desktop Outlook 2007+, which only displays a static image of the timer. However, this image is accurate at the time the user opens the email.
