Do you have customers who typically purchase the same order from you? Then it may be interesting to offer these customers related products over time. Set up a cross-sell trigger, save time and generate more sales for your online store! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Go to the trigger page and click on the Reloadify - Related Products template.

Trigger settings

Give your new trigger a clear name. This name is not visible to customers, but purely for yourself to easily find the trigger. If you set up a cross-sell trigger for a certain product category, you can also let the category name appear.

Next, segment your cross-sell audience using the filters below:

The most recent order of which:
The time of ordering is equal to 10 days ago
The order status is equal to completed

Instead of 10 days you could also choose for example 5 or 15 days; the choice is yours and in some cases also depends on the type of product you offer. You also want to be sure that the orders are completed, cancelled orders worthless to you. If you are going to focus the trigger on a specific category, then add the filter for product categories.

Under the selected filters you will see how many profiles match within your segment. It may be that no profiles match at the time of setting up, don't panic, it may be different in a few minutes.

Sender settings

After this first step you will come to the sender settings. If all goes well, both the name and e-mail address are already filled in for you. If not, please check your email settings in the settings menu; these will be synchronized with each other.

You can choose your company name or your own name combined with your company name. We would like to advise you not to use only your own name. Customers might not recognize this name and therefore see the email as spam.

Then continue with the subject of the email:

By adding the customer's first name to the email subject, you address the customer personally. You can also choose to add a preheader:

We have a range of recommended products waiting for you!

A preheader is a short introductory text that ensures better conversion. It is the first line, after the email subject, that the customer sees when the email appears in his or her inbox. You can therefore also see a preheader as an extension of the subject line.

E-mail editor

Once in the e-mail editor, you can start designing and styling the trigger. Using the menu on the right you can drag and drop various elements into your email, including dynamic products, images, videos etc. But, let's start with the text message; a crucial part of your email:

Hi {{first_name}}

A while ago you ordered {{product_name}} from our webshop. We thought you might be interested in one of our other products, so we made a selection especially for you. Check them out below and shop your favorites soon! 🀩

With a cross-sell trigger it is of course important to add a dynamic content block with relevant products. You do this by choosing the 'rows' tab in the menu on the right and clicking on the dropdown menu. You then have the option of 'cross-sell products' and 'all cross-sell products'. If you choose the option with 'all', then the block works as a 'loop'. This means that you drag one block into your email and it repeats itself as often as the number of products in a customer's last order. Don't want that and want to be in control of how many products a customer sees? Then the option without 'all', is a better choice. The rule here is; one block actually shows one product.

πŸ’‘Tip: If you find the dynamic content block a bit scary and want to be sure that you have set it up correctly, send yourself a test mail. The test email will be filled with customer data from your webshop, so you can immediately see how the email will look to the customer.

Now that you have the text and the dynamic content block ready to go, you can continue with the design and styling of your trigger. Below we have listed a number of important aspects for you. We apply this (standard) order in all trigger templates and it will also appear in the accompanying articles.

Note: the styling and further layout of an e-mail may look different for each (web) shop owner, but you may find inspiration in the points below.

Header: give your header a clear color, which for example also comes back in your corporate identity, and add your logo.

Heading title: Is there anything in it for you?

Then add a text box with your written text.

Sub-header: Recommended products

Insert your dynamic content block here and don't forget to style it.

Button: Shop Now

Row: turn your 'benefits' into an image or add a text box with a listing:

  • Ordered before 21:00, delivered tomorrow

  • Free shipping for orders above € 25,-

  • 30 days return policy

Row: if you have an app for your online store, you can add a link to the App Store or Play Store.

Close your e-mail with a row in the same color as your header, but without your logo. This will create an decent and nice e-mail.

Tips

Save your created rows, this will save you the next time you want to send the same kind of e-mail. You can find the saved rows under 'saved rows'.

Keep the background color of your e-mail white or choose another light color. This will make your e-mail easier to read.

Images are scaled by default. This means that images are adjusted to the dimensions of the images in your web store. If you don't want this, for example because you have loaded different sizes of images, you can click on the image and turn off the option 'automatically scale image' on the right. Then you can manually set the size of the images.

Don't make your logo and other images too big because of the mobile version of the trigger. It may vary by phone, but images may be compressed slightly if they are too large.

Activate trigger

Before activating the trigger, please note: did you use the Reloadify trigger template? Then make sure you have replaced our name with your own company name. Did you do this? Then you're good to go! πŸ˜„

In the last step you get to see a summary of your settings. You can choose to activate the trigger immediately or do this at a later time.

Next, set the start and end time within which a trigger should be sent. You can make this happen 24/7, but we recommend you to select a more specific frame, so your email doesn't get snowed under during the night:

Send only between 07:00 and 20:00

Once you have activated the trigger, our system will continuously search for profiles that match the set segment rules.
