You could liken merge tags to a dynamic text element. While sending your emails, the tags will be populated with synchronised data from your customer or your online shop. This enables you to send more personalised emails.

Below you can see an example, with the merge tags highlighted in yellow:

You see the following merge tags:

  • First name for a personal greeting

  • Name of the latest ordered product

  • Created discount code

Those three merge tags are populated with the customer data based on their profiles. The customer would receive the following email for example:

Discount codes are not available by default, you are required to set them up yourself. Read how to simply do that in the following article: Setting up discount codes.

Options for merge tags

The following merge tags are our merge tag options:

  • First and last name of the customer

  • Email address of the customer

  • Address of the customer (street, number, postcode, city)

  • Birthdate of the customer

  • Name of the last ordered product

  • Date of the last order

  • Price of the last ordered product

  • Anti-spam text

  • Link to your online shop

  • Link to an unsubscription site for the newsletter

  • Link to the shopping cart

  • Created discount codes

Adding merge tags

Merge tags are added to a text box. In the black toolbar you can see the option for "Merge tags". In the following drop down menu you will find all the merge tag options as listed above. Select the preferred merge tag and it will appear in your email.

Tip: You can also press @, the merge tags will appear in your email in a dropdown menu.

Tip: Send a test email to yourself to check what the email will look like in the inbox of your customers.

We have also summarized the instructions above for you in the following video.
