What is it?
The Update field node updates an existing profile field the moment the profile reaches this node in the flow. You can choose from standard fields such as first name, last name, city, company name, street, house number, postal code, province, phone number and mobile phone, or from your own custom fields. You then give the field a new value, or clear the existing value.
Why use this?
Use this node to keep profile data up to date automatically, based on behavior in your flow, without updating it manually. Think of a custom field called Interests, which you update based on what a profile clicks on in a previous email. Does a profile click a link about running shoes? Then you can filter on that click with a condition, and use Update field to add 'Running' to the custom field Interests. This way, you automatically build a richer profile, which you can later use for segmentation or targeted campaigns.
How do you add this node?
Click the plus icon to add the node.
Select Update field.
In the menu, select the existing field you want to update.
Then choose:
Set new value: you overwrite the existing value with the value you enter under New value.
Clear value: the existing value of the field is cleared completely.
Save the node.
