When creating a filter you first choose the type: a property or an activity. This distinction is the foundation of the filter system.
Properties
A property describes who someone is. It's about fixed characteristics of a profile.
Examples:
City or country
Gender
Date of birth
A custom field you push to Reloadify yourself
Use properties when you're filtering on who someone is, regardless of what that person has done.
Activities
An activity describes what someone has done. It's about behaviour and interactions.
Examples:
Placed an order
Viewed a specific product
Opened an email or clicked a link
Abandoned a cart
Left a review
With activities you can also set a time period, for example: "has placed an order in the last 30 days".

Not sure? Ask yourself: is it about a characteristic of the person, or about something that person has done? That way you'll always get it right.
