Creating your own user role

This article explains how to build your own role and assign it to a user.

Written by Francine

Does none of the standard roles fit a team member's work? Build a role yourself. You choose exactly which permissions the role gets, for example for a graphic designer who only creates content.

Creating a new role

  1. Go to Settings > Roles. This is where you find the standard roles, which you can view.

  2. Click New role.

  3. Enter a name under Role name, for example "Graphic designer".

  4. Switch on the permissions the role needs in each group.

  5. Save the role.

On the right side of the screen, you see an overview of the access you have granted. Each group also shows how many permissions are switched on, for example "2 of 4". You can always change the role later.

Permissions per group

The permissions are divided into four groups. Some permissions only work together with another permission. This is shown in the Requires column.

Read Managing user roles and permissions for what each permission covers exactly.
